This past weekend I had the pleasure of capturing a maternity session at Blandy Experimental Farm for my 2nd shooter, Sean, & his adorable wife, Heather! Sean & Heather are expecting a baby boy in January, so it was definitely crunch time to get this session in. Once we arrived we made our way to the restrooms so that Heather could change into the pink dress she would be wearing for her portraits, & as we made our way we got the strangest looks from people. One woman even spoke up and said, “Please don’t tell me you’re going to wear that dress in this freezing weather!” All 3 of us looked at each other, smiled, and replied with “Yup!”. The woman looked at us as if we were nuts, & maybe we were, but it was totally worth it to get these shots! You would never guess it, but Heather actually kept her black leggings on underneath to help keep her warm, and we managed to keep her coat & a large blanket wrapped around her in between shots. The last thing I wanted was for this Momma to be to get sick! We took a few 30 second “blanket breaks”, but we moved quickly & you would have never have guessed that Heather was cold! Heather rocked these maternity portraits with such ease!
After Heather’s portraits we switched up gears a bit which included a much warmer outfit change, lol, and most importantly we included Sean for the remaining of the session. Heather & I got tickled, bc Sean (who was wearing long sleeves & pants) was vocalizing how cold he was once he had to shed his hat & coat. It made me want to put Sean in that pink dress, LoL! But putting the cold & all jokes aside, we had so much fun together capturing a variety of different shots. There were so many genuine moments that happened in front of my lens that showed just how much love these two have for one another, & the excitement that they have for Baby Lukas’ arrival. I know these two are going to make terrific parents, & I can’t wait to meet the little guy! Here are just some of my favorite images from their session.
Enjoy!
