It felt so good to be back at Old House Vineyards this past weekend for Amanda (Mandy) & Doug’s wedding celebration. Seriously, I love this place. The last time I captured a wedding at this beautiful venue, it was 105 degrees outside in the shade. This past weekend, however, was a completely different story. We had 50 degree temps, a slight breeze, with even a little bit of rain. Needless to say I did capture 90% of the wedding in my rain boots, lol. Luck would have it, the rain clouds disappeared just in time for portraits & most importantly just in time for Mandy & Doug’s outdoor ceremony.
Incase you missed Mandy & Doug’s engagement session on the blog (which you can view, here!), let me fill you in on their background a little bit bc it is a cute story! Mandy & Doug both attended NC State University, however, they did not meet on campus as most would assume. It turned out that Mandy & Doug were living in the same apartment complex, & were practically neighbors. They just happened to pass each other on the stairs one day, where small talk turned into a conversation, & that conversation eventually led to an actual date. Then some time later, it led to a romantic proposal on the waterfront in Georgetown. Now 6 years from their first date (almost exactly), these two love birds are saying “I Do!”
As soon as I arrived, I was greeted with such warmth by Mandy’s bridesmaids. Mandy was as calm & joyous as she could be, & I knew that nothing (not even the damp weather) could ruin the atmosphere & mood of this bunch. I don’t recall Amanda ever not smiling. Her smile was truly contagious, & I just adored her personality & positive energy. Not to mention, this girl is drop dead gorgeous! Mandy made such a beautiful bride, both inside & out. Oh, & wait until you see her cascade bouquet!
One of the many reasons that I love Old House Vineyards is for the beautiful grounds that it provides which includes the ceremony site. Mandy & Doug’s small & intimate ceremony took place on a small island where they exchanged vows underneath a beautifully decorated arbor, complete with a water fountain in the background. Talk about picturesque! I am one giddy photographer everytime I get to capture ceremonies here- it will never get old! As Mandy made her grand entrance towards her groom, I will never forget the emotion displayed on their faces as they saw each other for the first time. It was evident just how much Mandy & Doug cared for one another.
It was such a pleasure capturing Mandy & Doug’s wedding celebration! The positive energy from everyone there made the atmosphere so fun & relaxing. It is truly amazing to me that I get to consider what I do as “work”, bc although it can be tiresome I absolutely love what I do & the amazing people that I get to meet along the way. Mandy & Doug are some of the sweetest & most down to earth couples that I’ve had the privilege of getting to meet. I am so thankful that they trusted me to capture their special day. It was truly an honor to be a part of such an amazing wedding celebration.
Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Schweizer!
