After having a week filled with mostly rain, we had a beautiful day for Jamie & Brooke’s Orchard View Farm wedding out of Winchester, VA. The one thing I love about being a wedding photographer is the simple fact that not every wedding is the same. Jamie & Brooke’s wedding celebration definitely fit into that category. There were so many fun & surprising elements that took place over the course of the day, & it just reminded me that much more of why I love what I do.
The day started out at the George Washington Hotel where Brooke & her bridesmaids were getting ready. I love this gorgeous hotel & the downtown charm that comes with it. Since Jamie & his groomsmen were having their portraits taken at Orchard View Farm, we decided to stay in downtown Winchester for the bridal party portraits. As we made our way downtown, we discovered that Winchester was holding their annual Oktoberfest that day. As Brooke & her bridesmaids made their way to the walking mall, you would have thought they were celebrities.
Once portrait time was finished, Brooke & the girls kept mentioning how hungry they were. Between the nerves and the morning rush, I don’t think they had much, if anything, to eat that day. It was already 2:00pm, & the ceremony was supposed to start in just 1 hour. Brooke then decided that they would have their limo driver take them to McDonalds on the way (LoL!). The funny part is, they didn’t hit the drive thru. These girls (Brooke included) walked inside the McDonald’s in their dresses. Only chicken nuggets were ordered to avoid getting anything on their dresses beforehand. You can bet that made for one hilarious photo op…but I’m sorry, I did not post those on the blog. You will have to ask the Bride to see those 😉
A beautiful ceremony took place on Orchard View Farm amongst their family and friends. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many tears shed. The look on Jamie’s face was priceless as Brooke made her way down the aisle. By then it was me trying to fight back the tears. I’m always so honored to be able to capture moments like these, & I haven’t found myself tired of doing so. Every wedding brings a different kind of emotion, & the raw emotion is what I love to capture the most. Did I ever mention that I love what I do?
I do want to add that Brooke & Jamie were such amazing sports for portrait time! Poor Brooke’s feet were hurting so bad from being in her high heels, but every time I suggested a new pose she was all in! This wedding had me standing on hay bales, moving furniture into a field, and fighting the bugs lol. It was SO WORTH IT 🙂 I’m just so thankful that Brooke and Jamie trusted my vision when it came to my portrait locations and ideas. I’m sure at some point they probably thought I was a little bit crazy 😉 Needless to say, we had the most beautiful lighting for portraits & this sweet couple nailed every pose. I have to say that Brooke’s wedding gown was absolutely breath taking!
Remember when I said that every wedding provides something unique? Brooke & Jamie’s reception provided just that! Once again, I had an amazing time working with AATR videography & we were able to capture something pretty epic. Brooke had informed me ahead of time that their Best Man, Kyle, would be proposing to the Maid of Honor, Courtney, just after the bouquet toss. They had it all secretly arranged, & they were able to pull it off successfully. I think it was safe to say that Courtney was completely shocked. Once the bouquet was handed to her, she turned around to find Kyle down on one knee holding a diamond ring. The crowd went wild. I will admit it was a little tough fighting the crowds to capture this moment, but luckily between my 2nd shooter, Brittany, and I we were able to pull it off. It was definitely a romantic way to end the night, & I can only imagine how ecstatic Courtney must have felt the rest of the evening. Brooke & Jamie’s reception was definitely one for the books!
Brooke & Jamie, thank you so much for allowing me to capture your special day. I had such a wonderful time getting to know & work with you. I wish you nothing but the best as you start this crazy journey as husband and wife. Enjoy!
Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Edmonds!
