Robin & JW’s wedding was one that I’ve never experienced before, and it was such an honor to capture such a beautiful occasion! Not only did I get to capture one ceremony, but I actually got to capture TWO wedding ceremonies! Earlier that day I traveled to Robin’s parent’s house in Sterling, Virginia. It was here that Robin & JW would be surrounded by family for a traditional Vietnamese Tea Ceremony. Pictured below, the groom’s side of the family arrives with gifts for the bride and groom. Just before the ceremony begins, the gifts are exchanged to the bride’s side of the family where they are taken inside. Shortly after, the guests are seated with the start of the tea ceremony. The father of the groom then asks the bride’s parents permission for their son to marry their daughter. Talk about a very special and emotional moment! A formal tea and a candle ceremony along with speeches followed. Robin looked absolutely stunning in her bright red Ao Dai. Once Robin made eye contact with JW, she was just glowing!
Just after the tea ceremony, lunch was served at the bride’s parent’s home. It was now time for Robin to get ready for the western-style ceremony which took place just a few hours later. Robin had the best girl squad you could ask for when it came to getting her ready. They touched up her makeup and hair, and made sure that everything was how it should be.
I love capturing all of the pretty…
Since we had so much time between the ceremonies, we were able to capture all of their portraits ahead of time. Luckily Robin’s parents lived just down the street from Claude Moore Park, so that’s where we ended up for portraits. Everything was going smoothly until just before the bridal party photos, a HUGE black snack went slithering by just a few feet in front of us. I couldn’t believe that the ladies kept their composure, & that I didn’t drop my camera. Needless to say I was very aware of my surroundings throughout the duration of our time 😉
AHH! Look at this cute little man!
Of course you need a few “Just Married” portraits!
Let the party, begin!
Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Dinterman!
