I had the pleasure of finally getting to meet Logan & John for their engagement session in Downtown Alexandria this past weekend! Regarding the weather, it was most certainly a scorcher. However it still turned out to be a pretty day. We decided to meet at the Starbucks on the corner of Union Street. When Logan & John arrived Logan greeted me with chocolate chip cookies & a Mother’s Day card. Seriously?! My clients are seriously the best, and Logan must have known my weakness for chocolate chip cookies. I may or may not have eaten a few on the way home…
Incase you don’t remember, Downtown Alexandria is one of my favorite locations for engagement sessions. There is so much to offer in this quaint little town, & the waterfront is simply charming! As soon as I met John & Logan we hit it off immediately. They were so much fun & easy to talk to. I’m not sure how Logan walked around in high heels the entire evening, but she did it effortlessly! John was also a good sport by wearing a dark colored suit in the 85 degree weather. Needless to say, these two were troopers & they rocked their engagement session.
One location I love to start sessions out at in Downtown Alexandria is the Carlyle House. Just a couple blocks down will lead you to photographer’s heaven 😉 When I was here last year it was still winter time, so nothing was in bloom (and it was even pretty then). So you can imagine my surprise when I arrived to see the most beautiful blooms & greenery waiting for us. It was absolutely perfect.
Once we finished up at the Carlyle House, we made our way back towards the waterfront. Of course we had to hit the famous cobblestone street which always makes for a stunning portrait location. However the one area that Logan & John wanted to incorporate into their session was Downtown Alexandria’s waterfront. I can’t say that I blame them 😉 Logan & John decided to go into an outfit change, & it was so fitting for this duration of their session.
Since Logan & John will be having a New Years Eve wedding (yay!) they decided to dress in New Year’s Eve- like attire to use for their Save the Dates. This also included them bringing their own champagne & champagne glasses. Everything about it was so classy. The best part? Watching John pop the champagne bottle and attempt to not spill any on Logan’s dress, lol. I’d say it was a success. We definitely had a lot of fun incorporating the champagne glasses into their engagement session. Again, can I say classy? I not only fell in love with this sweet couple, but also with the atmosphere of the session itself.
It was certainly hard to not post every single image from Logan & John’s Downtown Alexandria engagement session, but here are some of my absolute favorites from our time together. Aren’t they the cutest?
