Noelle & Trey’s Washington DC wedding was everything & more. From the warm greeting I received upon arrival, to the glow that was radiating from Noelle, to the romantic first look in the court yard, & to a TON of portrait time! Not to mention, Noelle & Trey’s portraits started off in one of my favorite locations being downtown Alexandria. There was so much that I loved about Noelle & Trey’s special day, that it makes me so excited to share it with you on the blog!
Can I just say how much I love photographing in beautiful churches? The Basilica of Saint Mary was such a beautiful church, & it provided a beautiful backdrop for portraits. Little did I know there was a hidden court yard just off to the side of the church, which made a perfect location for Noelle & Trey to share their first look. With beautiful blooms & greenery, it made a beautiful picturesque location. I just loved capturing the flirtatious & playful energy between these two, & even found myself chuckling a few times. Noelle & Trey were absolutely adorable together!
Luckily the sun was in and out of the clouds, which resulted in tolerable weather for an August wedding. Noelle & Trey were all about maximizing those portrait opportunities, so we made sure to work efficiently to capture those key locations. I’m not sure how Noelle did it, but she walked nearly 5 blocks one way in a poofy dress & heels. Of course I can’t forget Trey who was such a great sport in the heat with his dark tuxedo-but these two made it so much fun!
Since Noelle & Trey shared a first look, we were able to maximize our time together to get so much variety with their portraits. We made our way to the famous cobblestone street which is always one of my favorite portrait locations. To wrap up, Noelle also wished to have some taken on the waterfront in downtown Alexandria. Since we were having their portraits done around 1:30pm in the afternoon, the lighting made it a bit difficult due to the harsh sunlight. However once I placed them near the water at just the right angle, it was magic. I was so excited that we were able to capture portraits at all of Noelle & Trey’s desired locations!
After Noelle & Trey’s beautiful wedding ceremony, they loaded up into the “Party Bus” to head into Washington DC for their intimate reception dinner. Upon arrival, Noelle & Trey had wished to capture some portraits in Washington DC, however, we were too far away to walk to any of the monuments. At this moment, their bus driver informed Noelle & Trey that they had the “Party Bus’ for another 90 minutes in which he offered to drive us to the Capital for portraits. Of course we took him up on his offer! On our ride through the city we enjoyed drinks, the much needed air conditioning, music, laughs, & small talk which included their honeymoon plans (they’re going to Italy!) It was such a great time hanging out with Noelle & Trey, & I can also say the same for their family & guests.
I guess you could say we wrapped up their portrait time on such a high note. The Capital in Washington DC made such a beautiful backdrop for their portraits, & it tied up the evening nicely. It was definitely unexpected that we were able to capture these shots, & I know we were all so very thankful for the opportunity (thank you bus driver!). Heading back to their dinner reception, Noelle & Trey spent time with their loved ones & indulged in some of the best Italian food courtesy of Acqua Al 2. It was the perfect ending to such a perfect day.
Here are some of my favorites from Noelle & Trey’s Washington DC wedding. Enjoy!
