It was bittersweet capturing Paula & Scotty’s beautiful fall wedding at Highholdborne this past weekend. The only reason I say that is because it was my last wedding for the 2018 season. Highholdborne is such a stunning venue nestled in the countryside of Loudoun County, while offering some of the best panoramic views. I’ve always loved this Virginia wedding venue, & it was so fitting for Paula & Scotty’s special day. The fall leaves made a stunning backdrop for their wedding ceremony, & provided that perfect romantic glow for their portraits.
I guess you could say inside the walls of Highholdborne is every photographer’s dream. It provides a bright & airy space that will make any wedding celebration feel sophisticated & classy. As soon as I arrived we started with Paula’s bridal portraits inside the main house. Seeing how radiant Paula was, I could have taken bridal portraits all day! Her romantic long veil & lacey gloves added just the right touch. Paula was simply beautiful & I loved that she was all about that wedding glam 😉
It was certainly a chilly fall day, but Paula & Scotty still managed to hold their intimate wedding ceremony outside. How could you not with Highholdborne’s stunning views? Regardless of the cold temperatures, the girls handled it like champs while trying to keep warm in their shawls. Even the groomsmen were chilly in their tuxes, but you would never know just how cold they were. It was then after the ceremony that Paula slipped on a fur shawl that just made her look even more like a bridal princess. Could this girl get any more classy?
Another thing I fell in love with were the deep purple tones used for this Highholdborne fall wedding. With the deep purple against the fall golden light it made for the most gorgeous photos. During portrait time the wedding party may have been bouncing around quite a bit to keep warm, lol, but we tried to work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Wouldn’t you know it? No one looked cold in the photos. Everyone involved were such great sports when it came to making Paula & Scotty’s day a huge success.
Wrapping up the day we finished with the most beautiful bride and groom portraits. Poor Scotty’s nose was so red by the end of it all, lol, but I think it’s safe to say that it was definitely worth it. Even though it was cold, the slight breeze made it perfect for positioning Paula’s veil. The beautiful fall light made their portrait time such a dream, & I’m so glad they stuck it out with me. Paula & Scotty were so amazing to work with, & I’m so glad that I had the pleasure of working with them. They were the perfect couple to wrap up my 2018 wedding season with.
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Keller! Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your special day.
