It was hard to believe that Stefy & Doug’s wedding was already here. As a Northern Virginia wedding photographer, it seemed just like yesterday that I met this sweet couple for the first time during their fall engagement session. Doug & Stefy were a couple whom I clicked with immediately, and capturing the chemistry between them came so naturally
You can imagine how excited I was to capture more of their love story unfold this past weekend. To top it off, I began their special day by capturing some of my favorite things- bridal details & bridal portraits! Stefy looked absolutely stunning in her elegant lace gown with her long dark curls. We had the perfect space to capture bridal portraits (which just happened to be Stefy’s mother in law’s master bedroom! Crazy, right?) & once again, I could have photographed her in that same spot all day long. All I can say is, thank you beautiful window light! It’s every photographer’s dream, but I have to say that Stefy was absolutely breath taking!
There must be something in the air this year when it comes to me photographing wedding ceremonies in the rain (read my blog post from Rachel & Allen’s wedding, here, & you will see why). As soon as we arrived to Opequon Inn for Stefy & Doug’s wedding ceremony, the storm clouds began to roll in. It was a last minute decision to move their outdoor ceremony inside to the barn. It was definitely a wise choice as it down poured rain for over an hour. This certainly cut into their portrait time, but as we were patient with the timeline the best thing happened. The clouds cleared, a rainbow appeared, & we had the most beautiful light for portrait time. What made it even better is that since we were delayed we entered into what us wedding photographers like to call “golden hour”, which is when the lighting is the absolute best for portraits. Of course I took advantage of this scenario & made sure to capture more bridal portraits of Stefy at the end 😉
Here are some of my favorites from Doug & Stefy’s special day. What an amazing celebration that was had amongst their family & friends, who came from near & far! Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence!
