A Maternity Session at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens
It was exactly 5 years ago that I captured Mandy & Doug exchange vows at Old House Vineyards. This time I had the privilege of not only capturing them again, but capturing their growing little family! I am always so excited when I have the opportunity to work with my couples again, while also having the opportunity to meet their littles! This is just one of many reasons why my job as a wedding photographer is so rewarding. We had the greatest time capturing their maternity & family photos at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens.
As much as I love the Spring temperatures, one thing I certainly do not miss is the unpredictability of the weather. You know, those summer storms that can creep out of nowhere? While driving to Meadowlark Botanical Gardens I carefully watched the weather, in hopes that the impending rain would hold off. Shew! It looked like we would have a solid hour before any rain crept in. We had overcast skies for most of their session, but luckily the gardens were mostly empty. We managed to get just enough portraits when we felt those dreadful raindrops start to come down. The skies were not looking very promising. As we grabbed our things to make our way back to the visitor center, it poured. And I mean it POURED down rain. Luckily I brought my clear umbrella while Doug & Mandy brought an oversized blanket. It may have kept us out of the rain for a bit, but we were still soaked. I was so thankful that we were able to capture everything we needed just in the nick of time!
Mandy & Doug’s family session was certainly quite the adventure. In addition to the weather conditions at the end of their session, little Isabella discovered so many turtles that captivated her during our time at Meadowlark Gardens. I’m convinced she would have taken one home with her if Mom & Dad would have allowed it. Isabella had so much fun exploring the flowers & turtles as she ran the entire length of the stone pathway, twirling in her summer dress.
I had the best time catching up with this adorable family over the weekend. Mandy was glowing, & these two were exactly how I remembered them 5 years ago. I am amazed at how time flies within the blink of an eye. As a result, I am so thankful that I am able to freeze these precious moments in time.
