The last time I visited Meadowlark Botanical Gardens was for a wedding I captured last July for a sweet couple. I loved that Noelle & Trey decided on this location for their engagement session! Since they are having their wedding in Washington DC, they wanted to switch gears a bit when it came to the atmosphere of their engagement session. As Noelle stated, she wanted something outdoors with a lot of greenery. I’d say she selected the perfect location.
The weather was causing a bit of a threat to Noelle & Trey’s engagement session. With that being said we made sure to stalk the weather radar hourly, lol. I’m not sure about you, but I’ve been pretty tired of all the rain we’ve experienced lately. Mother nature has not been so kind to us, & I was praying that we would have a clearing for their engagement session. After much debate, we decided to go ahead and give it a chance.
Luck would have it, it was unusually cool for a June day. When I say cool, what I really mean is that it wasn’t humid. The sun was in and out of the clouds which was a blessing, but the threat of storm clouds still loomed over us. After about 20 minutes into their session, the rain started to come down. Luckily there was a gazebo nearby, so we took shelter there until the rain passed. While waiting 25 minutes under the gazebo (thank goodness for that gazebo!) I had the chance to chat with Noelle & Trey about their wedding day. As much as I didn’t like their engagement session getting delayed, it was so nice having that time to chat & laugh with them. Noelle & Trey were such troopers the entire time, & were so patient through the entire process.
Suddenly the rain clouds disappeared & the sun was shining bright. I loved being able to explore more of Meadowlark’s Botanical Gardens. Since things were a bit rushed when I visited last time, this go around I was able to take my time and discover new areas I did not know were there before. Needless to say, I think all of us got our exercise 😉 Despite the 25 minute rain shower, we were still able to wrap up a successful engagement session for these two.
Here are just some of my favorites from Noelle & Trey’s engagement session. I am so excited to have more fun with this sweet couple for their Washington DC wedding this August!Â
