This past weekend I had the pleasure of meeting & capturing Kaleb in downtown Shepherdstown for his portrait session. Last summer I had taken senior portraits of his girlfriend, Amy, & it turned out that Amy & her mom Tracy wanted to gift Kaleb with his very own portrait session! How sweet is that? I was so excited that they thought of me to capture Kaleb’s portraits. Not to mention, it was such a pleasure getting to see Amy & Tracy again!
So let’s be real here for just a second…I’m so used to photographing girls, LOL. Do you know how tricky it is to capture a portrait session for a male without making the photos look too feminine? Ha! I’m so used to placing girls in a field of flowers & using that for so many different poses. With guys, it requires you to think just a little bit more, lol. Might I add, this was my first time in Shepherdstown (pathetic, right?) so I felt as if I was working a little bit blind as I was scouting locations as we went. Thank goodness these guys were so patient with me!
I could tell Kaleb was a little nervous, especially since he felt like he had an audience watching him. I did my best to talk with him & make him feel comfortable. Shoot, I even got him to laugh a few times which made for some of the best candid shots. Shortly into the session, Kaleb was feeling more and more comfortable and mastering every pose. He even went in for the “hair swoop” without me even asking him to! I was so impressed! You just might see this young man in GQ magazine some day 😉 Might I also add just how much I LOVE his curls! I had such a great time capturing this handsome young man! Here are just a handful of my favorite’s from Kaleb’s session in downtown Shepherdstown. Looking good, Kaleb!
