I had such an amazing time this past weekend with Rebecca for her coaching session! One thing I love about this industry, is that there is always something new to learn or improve upon. I am so grateful that I had the opportunities that I did to learn from some amazing photographers. Because of this, I love to give back and help others reach their full potential. If I could hold coaching sessions more often, I definitely would! It’s always so much fun getting to meet new people in the photography industry.
Rebecca initially found me through Instagram, and contacted me just before the holidays regarding setting up a coaching session. I was so excited that she reached out, & I enjoyed learning about her & her photography business. To start off our coaching session, we met at the Espresso Bar & Cafe on the walking mall in downtown Winchester. Immediately we connected & had to tear ourselves away from small talk in order to get to the photography portion, lol. Rebecca & I discussed a number of topics regarding marketing, lighting, posing, & many other little ins & outs that help make a photography business successful. It turned out an hour went by like 30 minutes, but luckily we had our hands on portion to cover more topics!
Since Rebecca was local, I made a point for us to meet at the Espresso Bar & Cafe for a reason. Knowing that we had our hands on portion towards the end of our coaching session, I needed a picturesque spot that was close by for Rebecca’s headshots! My absolute favorite spot in downtown Winchester for portraits is the Handley Library. The architecture is amazing, & it gives you that big city feel even though you are in the quaint downtown area of Winchester. Can I also just say how much of a natural Rebecca was in front of the camera?
Rebecca & I had such a great time together during our hands on portion, that we nearly lost track of the time! We took this opportunity for Rebecca to learn posing, how to pose when it came to lighting, proper camera settings, & most of all what it feels like to be in front of the camera. So often us photographers forget what it’s like to be on the other side of the lens. By modeling, it helps you understand the client’s perspective so that you can better put them at ease when the time comes.
The lighting couldn’t have been anymore perfect! Love that glow!
After Rebecca’s headshots, I offered to model for Rebecca. Most of the time this makes my clients nervous as they feel they are being put on the spot, but Rebecca handled it like a champ! Immediately she took charge as if I was one of her clients, and started applying the techniques we went over. To say I was impressed was an understatement, because Rebecca handled it like a boss 😉
