Nick and Fernanda met on Memorial Day weekend of 2023, just a few short weeks after Fernanda (“Fer”) moved from Mexico City to Baltimore for her Postdoctorate Fellowship in Neuropathology. Even though Fer cancelled their “first first date,” fate clearly had other plans — because their rescheduled coffee meetup turned into a four-hour walk along the Baltimore promenade, and the rest was history.

Nick, who never really believed in soulmates before, quickly changed his mind after meeting Fer. Their connection was effortless. Between long days of residency, research, and late-night laughter, they built a life that felt steady and full — complete with their dog Cody and cat Chelsea in their Baltimore apartment.

A Courthouse “I Do”

Knowing they wanted to save for the wedding of their dreams, Nick and Fer decided not to wait to start their life together. The summer of 2024, they said “I do” at the Baltimore City Courthouse, surrounded by their parents, Nick’s sister Alexis, and his grandparents.
