I can certainly say that the month of August has been full of engagement sessions! This past weekend I also had the pleasure of meeting up with Ericka & Garrett on campus at Shenandoah University. Ericka & Garrett are both former alumni, while Ericka currently works as their education coordinator & Garrett now coaches football for Shenandoah University. Since this is also where Garrett proposed to Ericka, it was only fitting to have their engagement session take place on campus.

Shenandoah University is a beautiful campus, & I loved that Ericka & Garrett decided on a location that was sentimental to them. With various landmarks that they wanted to include around campus, we were able to get so much variety out of their portrait time together. Might I add just how much fun I had with these two? Garrett & Ericka were not only super laid back, but they shared the best chemistry. Ericka also had the best laugh, & my camera was able to capture so many genuine moments between these two.

Towards the beginning of Ericka & Garrett’s session we captured portraits at one of their key landmarks- the gazebo. This is where Garrett proposed to Ericka last Christmas, where it was all lit up with magical Christmas lights. I can’t even imagine how romantic that must have been. When we arrived the inside of the gazebo was full of metal tables and wooden chairs. Poor Garrett got quite the workout moving them out of the way in order for us to get the perfect shot, but he was such a trooper about it. I just felt bad that I couldn’t help! Mostly due to the fact that I’m 20 weeks pregnant, lol, but I think it’s safe to say that it was worth it to photograph at a location that is dear to their hearts 🙂

After making our way down to the pond, we wrapped up our time together with a little fun. Ericka & Garrett decided to slip on Garrett’s football jersey’s for some playful shots down in Shenandoah University’s football stadium. It was a strange feeling to have the entire football field to ourselves, but it was awesome that we had that opportunity. It was really special to wrap up their engagement session in a way that represented a place that is very dear to them. I loved how Ericka & Garrett’s engagement session displayed a romantic side, yet a playful & fun side at the same time. It was so hard to pinpoint what my favorite part of their engagement session was, but Ericka & Garrett made every aspect so easy to capture.
