When Kelly reached out to me back in December, I was taken back. Honestly, I questioned myself if I was the right person for her to reach out to as I feel that I am always reaching out to other lead photographers, lol. Something inside me felt, & really wanted to help her…and teaching is always something I’ve wanted to do. With that said, Kelly inspired me to start offering coaching sessions for 2016! Before our session, I had Kelly make a list of questions & topics for us to discuss, so that I could be as prepared as possible to ensure she got the most out of her session. My only dilemma you may ask? Kelly shoots Canon….I’m a Nikon girl! (Nothing against Canon, btw 😉 ) With that said, I had to learn a little myself as some of her camera settings were set up differently than mine…but we managed 😉
Kelly & I met at a local coffee shop where we spent 2 hours (and it could have easily been longer) diving into a variety of different topics. We discussed camera settings, branding, website development, processing, editing, & other topics that had to do with the business side of things. We also enjoyed talking, laughing, & swapping stories (good & bad) of similar experiences that we had with photography. Overall, we had a great time meeting together & I thoroughly enjoyed helping Kelly as she pursues her dreams with her new business. Be sure to check out her Facebook page, here!Â
The only thing we had working against us during our coaching session was the horrible humid & gloomy weather. Luckily we did not get rained on, but boy was I hoping for some pretty golden light for Kelly’s photos! As part of the coaching session, I offer head shots for the client so they can feel free to use them for their website, Facebook page, etc. Also to switch things up a bit, I offer to get in front of the camera for them so that they can practice posing techniques, as well as practice using different camera settings. I am a firm believer in visual & hands on learning, so this part of the coaching session was key!
Here are some of my favorite shots that I took of Kelly from her coaching session. What a beautiful model I had! 😉 Kelly, you’re a natural!
“I have been following Brooke’s photography since she first launched her business in 2013. Over the years, I have watched Brooke’s style and creativity transform into her own beautiful art. She never ceases to amaze me! Shortly after starting my own photography business, I knew I could benefit from one-on-one coaching with an expert. Brooke was the first person that came to mind. I was so excited to have her professional input on a variety of subjects to include camera equipment, shooting techniques, lighting, branding and so much more! Brooke is very patient and knowledgeable. She really made me feel comfortable asking questions and provided EXCELLENT feedback. Whether you are wanting to further develop your photography hobby or grow your business, Brooke can certainly help!”
