I am so excited to share Zach & Gina’s engagement at L’Auberge Provencale with you today on the blog! This was my first marriage proposal that I have captured in my 7 years of wedding photography, & let’s just say that now I’m hooked! Not only were Zach & Gina the absolute sweetest couple, but this process could not have gone any smoother. Keep reading!
It all started last month when Zach’s mother, Tammy, contacted me. She knew Zach had this special weekend planned for Gina at L’Auberge Provencale Bed & Breakfast in November, & she wanted to gift them by having the proposal captured. I was so excited to take this on for them! Tammy & I did most of the communicating in the very beginning, as we we did not want to risk Gina finding out by the way of text messages or emails. Tammy was so kind to give me all of the detailed information, which allowed me to be able to tour the property before the big day. About a week prior I scouted out the property of L’Auberge Provencale (which is stunning by the way!), & took some videos & photos for Zach to help him prepare where he wanted to pop the question. Yes, you are assuming correctly…Zach had never been to L’Auberge Provencale before. Both Zach & Gina were not from the area, so it made it tough for Zach to pay a visit beforehand. Luckily for me, I was in the area & able to help Zach create a masterplan. By this time Zach & I were communicating through email while he was at work, & were sending limited texts to each other to ensure we were on the same page.
The day has come. The property at L’Auberge Provencale is stunning, however it is a pretty open space. With the time of year, most of the greenery is non existent which also made it nearly impossible for me to hide anywhere. Luckily there were 2 sets of white wooden lawn chairs that gave me a direct view of where Zach planned to propose to Gina. I managed to blend in as one of the guests, as I parked myself in the chair with a blanket and a book (I had my camera resting in my lap under the blanket). Then Zach sent me just a couple text messages to let me know they were coming outside. I felt so silly sitting there in that chair outside all by myself, chuckling as I was “reading” an old paperback book. It wasn’t long before Zach & Gina made their way outside, laughing in conversation. Once their backs were turned, I put down my book & watched the most beautiful moment unfold. The hardest part? Getting my camera out from underneath my blanket, lol! If anyone knows how large & awkward zoom lenses are, you would understand. With that being said, it was a success! We even had the most beautiful weather with golden light. I was so in love with everything about this proposal & the engagement photos that followed. I am now convinced that I need to capture more of these special moments!
Zach & Gina, congratulations on your engagement!
By this time we had some bystanders, lol
