I had the greatest time capturing Caitlyn & Dirk at Bear’s Den in Bluemont, Virginia. We were so fortunate that the fall foliage was at it’s peak during this past weekend, as Virginia is absolutely stunning this time of year. The more I capture weddings & sessions during this time of year, the more I understand why this season is so busy for us photographers. Caitlyn & Dirk had the most gorgeous fall backdrop for their engagement session this past weekend & I am so excited to share it with you!
Caitlyn & Dirk moved to Virginia from Colorado which is what inspired us to use Bear’s Ben for the engagement session. Although Virginia looks nothing like Colorado, they were in search of a location that provided a picturesque mountain feel. I immediately thought of Bear’s Den, which I knew would be gorgeous during the fall season. It was also a great location to use as the overlook was just a short walk down a nearby trail. Our only dilemma was fighting the crowds of people & parking was quite interesting, lol. But luckily we made it & were able to capture some amazing images, thanks to photoshop for removing some bystanders, & playing with my camera angles 😉
Caitlyn & Dirk were certainly up for any adventure. Although the trail was a short downhill hike to Bear’s Den Overlook, it still involved a little work getting out onto the rocks. Once Caitlyn & Dirk were in place, I did my best to change my camera angles & lenses to give them as much variety as possible without having them move (mostly for safety reasons!). The sun began to set behind the mountain & it provided the most romantic glow. I could have sat up on that overlook for the remainder of the evening in awe of the gorgeous view. I was so thankful that Caitlyn & Dirk were willing to brave the rocks for some epic shots! It may not have been Colorado, but Virginia proves to not be too shabby either 😉
Congratulations, Caitlyn & Dirk!
