Sofia and Miro’s Historic Oatlands & Gardens Engagement Session in Leesburg, VA was one for the books. Between the stunning grounds, the incredible golden light, and a love story that spans a decade, this session was the perfect way to celebrate their engagement season.

As a Northern Virginia engagement photographer, I love when I get the chance to learn more about my couples, and Sofia and Miro have such a special story. The two met in high school and have now been together for 10 years! Over the years, they’ve built a relationship rooted in friendship, commitment, and a shared love for soccer. It was so fun hearing about their journey together while exploring the beautiful gardens at Oatlands.

One of my favorite moments from the evening was discovering that Sofia grew up in Nokesville, Virginia—which just so happens to be where I grew up as well! Such a small world and such a fun connection to make during their engagement session.

The golden hour light absolutely showed off for us that evening. The sunlight poured across the gardens and pathways, creating the dreamiest backdrop for their portraits. The golden glow paired perfectly with the timeless beauty of Historic Oatlands & Gardens, making every image feel warm, romantic, and effortlessly elegant.

I already know their wedding day is going to be incredible. Sofia and Miro will be tying the knot at The Inn at Willow Grove in May 2027, and after spending the evening with them, I cannot wait to celebrate alongside them again. Their joy, kindness, and genuine connection made this session such a pleasure to photograph.
