This past weekend I had the pleasure of meeting Ashley & Chris for their engagement session at the beautiful Shenandoah Crossing Resort out of Gordonsville, VA. I have to say that I am super bummed that I won’t be able to capture their wedding next July, because these two were such a joy to work with! Ashley & Chris will be getting married in Connecticut next Summer, & with my husband & I adding another little one to our family next year it would just be too much to make the trip. One of these days I will get to travel a great distance for a wedding 😉
It turns out that Ashley & Chris were visiting Shenandoah Crossing for Labor Day weekend. They came up with the idea of having their engagement photos done while on vacation, & what a beautiful location to make use of! Shenandoah Crossing overlooks Lake Izac & offers some of the most spectacular views. Originally we had their engagement session scheduled for Saturday evening, but due to the pending thunderstorms & gloomy weather, we decided to push their engagement session back to Sunday. Luckily we made the right call as the following day was sunny & provided us with the most beautiful, romantic light.
I’m sure there were other areas around the resort that would have photographed beautifully, but we made the most of their session around Lake Izac. Not to mention, it was an extremely hot day so we avoided having to walk too far to get to different locations. If anyone knows me well enough they know my love for being on the water, so using Lake Izac as a backdrop for 90% of their photos did not bother me one bit 😉 Luckily, that’s what Ashley & Chris had in mind too!
I’m not sure how Chris survived being photographed in long sleeves, but he did it with a smile on his face. I think it’s safe to say that we were all melting by the end of the session, lol, but like I always tell my couples it will be worth it in the end. I had such an amazing time hanging out with these two, & I only wish I could continue capturing their love story. It sounds like they will also be having a waterfront wedding, so of course I can’t help but be a little jealous 😉
Ashley & Chris, thank you so much for having me capture this special moment in your lives. I wish you both the very best as you continue your new adventure.
